Greenwald Advocates for Federal Employees at Congressional Meeting

Last week, National President Doreen Greenwald joined other federal employee unions at a meeting with the bipartisan Congressional Federal Workforce Caucus to discuss protecting and rebuilding the civil service. The caucus was formed earlier this year to strengthen efforts to protect federal employees so they can continue to deliver critical services without political interference.

NTEU Fights Back Against OPM’s Attempted Power Grabs

This week, NTEU filed comments opposing the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) proposals to strip federal workers of their right to appeal two types of firings to the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB): suitability actions and reductions in force (RIFs). The new proposals would force employees to go to OPM instead of the MSPB to challenge these types of actions. Even worse, both proposals would also remove employees’ right to appeal further to a federal court.
