Last week, National President Doreen Greenwald joined other federal employee unions at a meeting with the bipartisan Congressional Federal Workforce Caucus to discuss protecting and rebuilding the civil service. The caucus was formed earlier this year to strengthen efforts to protect federal employees so they can continue to deliver critical services without political interference.

The House on Tuesday evening approved a short-term increase in the nation’s debt ceiling, allowing the government to pay its bills until at least early December. The legislation now goes to President Biden, who is expected to sign it.

Senate leaders on Thursday announced a bipartisan agreement to temporarily increase the nation’s debt limit and the Senate has approved the legislation. The deal now heads to the House where it is expected to be approved before the Oct. 18 deadline.
