Congress Close to Funding Deal, Needs Quick Votes to Avoid Shutdown

Congressional leaders have announced they are close to an agreement to extend government funding until mid-March.

The temporary funding deal, which will need bipartisan support, must pass the House and Senate in time for President Biden to sign it before agency funding expires at midnight on Friday.

As in previous funding deadlines, it is possible that final votes could extend beyond the midnight deadline and into the weekend, though that is unlikely to cause significant disruption to agencies and employees.

NTEU continues to fight for agencies to be fully funded and for employees to receive a fair pay increase in 2025.
